Request Library Instruction

The Library works collaboratively with course instructors and other partners to create learning solutions that address the varied experiences and needs of users as consumers and creators within a complex socio-information world.

We provide expertise in helping users find information and in helping them analyze and use information as thoughtful and ethical consumers and creators.

Our instruction works best when addressing a need, such as a research assignment or lab project, and when the library instructor has sufficiently advanced notice, preferably a minimum of two weeks.

Instruction Offerings

Our flexible instruction options are designed to fit seamlessly into your course or research activities. Instruction time commitments can range from a 30-minute session with a librarian or self-directed resources like tutorials and LibGuides that require minimal in-class or in-lab time. Instruction can be delivered in-person or virtually, live or asynchronous, allowing you to integrate research and information literacy skills in the way that best supports your students or research team.

Course-Integrated Instruction

Elevate your course curriculum by partnering with a librarian to embed customized research and information literacy instruction.

Audience: Graduate or undergraduate students
Examples: An in-person or virtual library session, a video tutorial, a course specific library page (LibGuide), or training for instructors to teach the concepts

Lab or Research-Integrated Instruction

Enhance your lab or project team's capabilities with specialized sessions that support your unique research goals.

Audience: Graduate students, lab staff, faculty, occasionally undergraduates
Examples: An in-person session at a lab or the library, a virtual session, a video tutorial, a lab or project specific library page (LibGuide), or training for instructors to teach the concepts

Online Instructional Materials

Provide flexible, on-demand content for your students with self-directed learning tools and online tutorials, designed to support both course-based and independent research endeavors.

Audience: Students, faculty, staff, even members of the general public
Examples: Video tutorials with quizzes or a course specific library page (LibGuide)

Consultations or Ongoing Projects

Collaborate with expert librarians to design assignments and projects that embed information literacy into your curriculum.

Audience: Depends on the type of project, but typically graduate or undergraduate students
Examples: A revised assignment which addresses student pain points or a set of assignments for courses which students take in sequence, etc.
