Ethical and Inclusive Metadata

This initiative will identify and change practices to include reparative and inclusive descriptive metadata. This initiative is in alignment with the SILS Ethical and Inclusive Metadata Practices in UC Library Search Project Team and will work in tandem with that group. A team will be charged to evaluate and perform an audit of the Library’s current catalog as well as our Digital Collections site. This group will also develop best practices and strategies to clean up harmful and outdated descriptions, access points and classifications.

  • Create a practice of anti-racist and anti-biased description and classification for a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, just, and accessible (DEIJA) UC Library Search and Digital Collections site.
